Spray Foam in a New Home

Kevin Frisbee of Freedom Foam Insulators explains the benefits of Spray Foam Insulation in new home construction.  Spray Foam is a great product because it does several jobs in one application.  It is a fantastic insulator, it air seals, and it prevents water vapor from getting into the wall assembly were it can condense and cause problems.

John Loin of Partner Construction serves on the Board of Directors and the Construction Committee for the Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity.  He has also donated countless hours of construction labor to Habitat.  In this video he explains what Habitat for Humanity is and how energy efficiency is a big part of their mission.

Alliant Energy’s PowerHouse TV

The Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity and Alliant Energy’s PowerHouse TV Show partnered together to document how extremely energy efficient design can be achieved on a modest budget.  Holly Butler, President of HDLB Architecture and Design, served as Designer and Construction Manager for the project.  This particular house received a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) score of 52, meaning that it is 48% more energy efficient than the standard new home and almost 80% more efficient than the average resale home.  Please enjoy the videos!
